Volunteer/humanitarian missions?

Have you had experience donating your CRNA services to a humanitarian organization or providing emergency relief (either national or worldwide)? If so, would you please describe your experience. Thanks!

Great thread Toby's mum (are you British?!)

Here's some:

Nurse Anesthesia Overseas (NAO):
http://www.hvousa.org/pcntry.cfm?ProCode=NAO

AANA's Resource Directory of Volunteer Anesthesia Services:
http://www.aana.com/volunteer/default.asp

I had the priviledge to go on a medical mission overseas. On the mission there were some very kind physicians who had gone on past missions with CRNA's. The praised the excellent efforts of the CRNAs. The benefits of nurse anesthesia providers giving with their talents are twofold: very deserving human beings benefit from great anesthetic care, and this care that CRNA's provide will be evident to the population whom they serve. All I can say is that the mission made me a different person now than I was before. For the better! I'll never forget the Creole people of Gayles Point Belieze. I look forward to when I can go on a mission as a CRNA.
