Volunteer/experience that will help getting into CRNA school?

I am currently a senior in a BSN program and my goal is to become a CRNA.
I want to prepare now, and I was wondering are their any associations/volunteer experience, etc. that would look good when applying to CRNA school? I am going to shadow a CRNA this upcoming year, and I am going to try to get into the ICU as fast as I can, but is there anything else? I am trying to build for my application now! Any info. would be great--thanks

I don't know that volunteer service will help you-none off hand anyway. Joining nursing organizations may look good to schools, such as critical nurses organization. Be active in them & possibly volunteer on your hospital commitees. You never know for sure what each school is looking for in a student. But, it will look good to do anything that shows your ability, commitment, organization, and leadership. good luck!!

The SGA (student government association) is full of volunteering... it's not a clinical-based sort of volunteering, but I know that my professors, deans, etc. would write me a recommendation for organizing student orientations, assisting with graduations, and all the other stuff involved in being class pres. Does your school have a service-learning trip? Each year students from my nursing school go to Belize to immunize kids. It's tough to volunteer for anesthesia-related things...it's not like volunteering to help in a LTC facility for acceptance in nursing school. You have to take it up a notch. Anesthesia is such a different "beast" than nursing - I know I'd have to be in anesthesia school for about a year before I'd know the first thing about anesthesia. I've found no opportunities yet.
