I just scheduled an interview at Raleigh in North Carolina in 3 weeks.

Anyone familiar with the interview process at Raleigh and what I should prepare for? Exciting times! Good luck all.

I have heard that they do ask clinical questions pertinent to your specialty unit. I hope that this helps!

I interviewed there last year. I recall sitting next to the program director who isn't the warm and fuzziest person I have ever met, although I felt I had alot in common with her. :stone The two of us sat in front of about 8-10 people, mostly MDA's and CRNA's. My ICU experience is in cardiac surgery and my clinical questions were mainly about expected Swan-Ganz readings and waveforms in patients with cardiogenic and septic shock.

I was intially unimpressed with the school as it is located in a strip mall.

I have interviewed several times at different schools and I will be starting at VCU next year. I decided I would rather spend my hard earned money on as much anesthesia training as possible. The Raleigh program has nursing theory classes which I personally believe to be a waste of time. Also, it is only a 24 month, intergrated program, which means you are in the OR with very little didactic foundation.

My advice: be honest, know why you want to be a CRNA, don't try to tell them what you think they want to hear. Don't wear perfume/cologne. It sounds like a know brainer, but I have gotten a headache from some of my fellow applicants.

The bottom line, these people can tell if you are ready for anesthesia school. I was disappointed the many times I was turned down, but in my heart I knew I wasn't ready and it showed in my interviews.

Good Luck, and remember, you are interviewing them as well, the education system is a business, you are paying them to educate you, and with the responsibility you wil ultimately possess, make sure you are getting you monies worth.
