Taking THE exam

Ok, I have less than 48 hours prior to my boards. I have watched many GRNAs get on this website and vocalize their concerns about boards...now its my turn. I did Valley...I went through the stuff between three and four times, I read Morgan and Mikhail back to front and Baby Miller. I'm either prepared or I'm not. I took the Mock Boards last night and got did ok. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to mentally prepare for these things. I'm getting the GI symptoms and I can't sleep. I think I'll probably do ok. I have been studying for like 6 months. HELP.

In addition, how long did it take for some of you to receive your results? They say 4 weeks in the pamphlet. I'll die if its really that long. Last years class was like a week. What is your experience?

I would say you are pretty well prepared.

Good luck on the exam.

OK, I took the exam today. I took 90 questions. I understand that is good for the passing end. Has anyone ever met anyone who took the test, it shut off at 90, and they failed?

How did the test feel? Do you think you passed? That's probably a better predictor than how many questions.

Hopefully your stress level is at least somewhat decreased, now that it's over. You can really relax when the happy news comes (which it will!).

I'm sure you did great. After preparing like you did, and shutting off at 90...you'll be fine. For those very rare examples of people failing at 90 questions, I think you'll find they did not prepare very well. I just took Valley and have a lot of work to do myself before boards in August. I doubt I will get through valley 3 times, M&M and Baby Miller. I will be lucky to get through the sweat book and memory master once or twice with some references to other texts on occassion.
Let us know when you get the good news!
Most of my friends over the past couple of years had their results in about 10 days.

I really hope it is few than 10 days..but I guess you have to wait sometimes. I have a question. I have a classmate who has a future co-worker who stated that when he took boards he could log onto the members section and after the name of the member if you had passed it said CRNA. What does anyone know about this? I guess, my question is whether I can find out an extra day in advance or something. ANyh ideas?

It is possible to be a failure at 90 questions. The essential element is the difficulty of the questions at the end of the test. If they were getting harder, that meant you were answering right and getting progressively more difficult questions, and will probably pass. OTOH, if the questions were pretty easy, that means you are answering incorrectly and the computer is giving less difficult questions to establish where your score should be, and it leans more toward a failing score.

(BTW, I completely agree that you sounded well prepared, and don't mean to imply I think you failed. Just sharing what I know about the test).

I know people who swear this is true, and that it worked for them. I have read posts here from those who say it did not work for them. Seems like worth a try to me, although I think you are right, it will only make a difference of a day or two.
