Starting school tomorrow

Well, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life. Starting classes at FIU for the class of Dec, 2006. I hope it goes well. Anybody else starting as well? Tell me after the first day what it was like and I'll do the same.

That is a short program. I too graduate in December of 2006 but our first day was June 1st. I am 2 weeks into my second semester.

You will be very busy but that does have its advantages..time goes FAST Good luck and let us know if you need any help or just a place to vent. There is a great knowledge base here.

I started my program 2 weeks ago. Our program is exactly 24 months and 2 weeks long. It is short, but packed with a lot of work. I'm sure that your orientation for the first week will consist of short days and letting out of class early. Our orientation was a full week, but we all got out early everyday. But, the next week will be the real START of the hard work ahead. We'll be getting our beepers and we'll be starting tomorrow's clinicals already. YIKES. My best advice to you is...get along with everyone and stick together. Help each other out. Remember: You are all equals once school starts. It doesn't matter if the next girl or guy sitting next to you has more years of ICU experience or vice versa, all of you are going to learn new things about anesthesia, and everyone will be starting from scratch. Good luck. And most of all, HAVE FUN!

Count your blessings my program is 32 months and a semester of that is stuff for a MSN ( GAG). I have been in school for 12 months and still have 20 to go. But the trade off was not having to relocate, I have a family and that would have been very tough on them. So for me it was the right place, it also helps that I received my undergrad. degree from the same university. But if I was single and mobile, I think I would have looked at shorter programs ( 24 months). Although, I can't image how much harderr that would be since you have less time to digest the material.

I started June14th and I graduate Dec '06. My best advice is to take these first few weeks to get yourself in a pattern and get organized. In my program it started off a little slow at first and then picked up speed very rapidly. Reading ahead and staying on track is a must. Good Luck!

I am starting classes in 2 weeks. I am going to school to be an LPN first, then RN, BSN. you know all the way :-) I am very nervous, I am going to be working full time and going to school part time. I am also a single mother. I was always great in school straight A's and everything, and reading some of these posts I am absolutely terrified. I think I may be in over my head and that I am going to fail....Is anyone in this situation, you know, school work and family and are you succeeding, and how do you manage?? I think I am having my first panic attack :-)

LPN student, these are nurse anesthesia graduate students. Undergrad nursing school is hard, but nothing like CRNA school! So don't go thinking these stressed people are nursing students.

I'm jealous of you all, but as I told my husband, I'm not sure if I'm more afraid of getting in or not getting in! But I guess if you want something enough you make it happen, and if I get in I'll muddle through. If I don't get in I'll try again. I already have plans for what to do if I'm unanimously rejected - CCRN, grad school courses, maybe time in SICU. Is that smart or pessimistic thinking?
