Samuel Merritt Interview coming up

Anyone interviewing at SMC over the next few days? I will be doing mine by telephone conference, as I live in New England. I sent them a photo today so they can visualize the person on the other end.

I have a miserable cough/cold (maybe flu?) and I'm glad this interview isn't in person. It's not attractive to have an applicant sneezing and blowing her nose all the time. I feel like dog poop too, I just won't be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and I can hide that better on the phone! And I'm sooo glad I didn't have to fly with a URI.

I've heard it's a pretty "soft" interview, they want to hear who you are and why you want to go there.

Good luck to you! I am also interviewing this coming week. I have no idea what to expect in my meeting, just that there will be a board of approximately ten interviewers. What is your nursing background? Where in New England are you from?

I'm interviewing at SMC tomorrow. I've been talking to some recent grad's and some current students about what to expect tomorrow. I think it's fairly laid back, but I still feel like I want to over-prepair. I still feel nervous due to wanting something so much, you know? This is the only school I've applied to, because they have everything I want. I went into nursing wanting to be a CRNA. I currently work in an ER (2.5 years). I got a 1140 on the GRE and a 3.7 GPA. What are your Stat's? Do I have a chance? I saw on a posting from last year that an applicant with a GRE score of 960 was accepted. Wish you both luck. I heard we should just be ourselves at the interview:)

I live in VT and I've worked MICU/CICU for two years. CCRN, ACLS, PALS, GPA 3.4, GRE 1410. Currently taking a graduate pathophys course. I think I do have a good shot since they jumped on the phone interview idea when I suggested it and told me I was a strong candidate. I have already been accepted elsewhere and this is interview #3, so I'm not as stressed as with earlier ones. I'm leaning toward going to SMC if I get in.

They told me there are 8 interviewers (if I remember correctly) and they are interviewing 35 students for 20 slots. So the odds are not too bad for us.

Venus, I don't have a crystal ball, but you sound like a strong candidate!

Good luck to everyone else interviewing.

Good luck on your interview! You will do just fine. Which program at SM are you interviewing for? I had interviewed about 2 years ago and it was a really laid back interview. I got in, but ended up not accepting the spot - don't worry too much about the interview. You will do fine!

I was wondering where you are from, because I grew up in Vermont. I've only been in California for a year and a half. In reply to your message, I only had a 3.26 in my undergrad program, due to working full-time. My GREs were 1100. I've worked three years as a nurse, two of which were in the NICU. Don't doubt yourself. I'm a firm believer in life working out for the best. My interview is at USC, and I don't know what to do to prepare. In talking with them over the past six months, I found how encouraging they were and developed a feeling that I was at home there already! As a result, I only applied there.

Did you graduate from UVM? I graduated in the class of 2002, but my original graduation date was to be 2000.

Ericalirn, I do believe I know you! I was in class of 2002. Jane Birn was in the MICU with some UVM students the other day and said she had heard you were looking at CRNA school as well. Small world, huh? I'll message you with my name.

Interview was okay, actually a little more difficult than in-person because the sound quality wasn't great. The male voices came through fine, but the higher-pitched female voices were hard to understand. I feel like I said dumb things, but then I think that in every interview. That's my third and final one - I'm glad that particular part of my school quest is over!

I found out on Saturday that I got into SMC CRNA class of 2007. I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else get in??
