Has anyone applied to Samuel Merritt in California. If so have you heard anything. I am anxiously waiting to hear a response from them.

i haven't applied to the program myself, but a girl i work with has. she hasn't heard anything as of yet, but she says she attacks the mailman everyday ... anxiously awaiting the acceptance/rejection letter. :chuckle

I applied to samuel merritt and I am also waiting to hear back. They just picked up applications to start reviewing them for interviews. Decisions to interview will not be made until the middle of March. If any one is interested we should get together for coffee and chat. Maybe it will help to relieve the stress. My name's Ramon, I work at Stanford and I live in Palo Alto. Call 650-380-4263 if interested.

I too applied to Sam Merritt-send app in December-called the admissions office and secretary stated they had 3 programs w/ Jan 15th deadlines so they are still sorting through all apps to be sure all material is there. They have NOT yet sumitted the completed app packets to any of the program committees yet, so HANG IN THERE-don't expect word til end of Feb, early March. For those that have applied, have you heard any word on what to expect if you get an interview????

I found out a couple of days ago that the invitations would be emailed by today, February 11th. Has anyone gotten one yet?

No email for me-guess that means no interview maybe??? Not even sure I filled out my email address on the app-it's been so long ago that I sent it in?? Anyway, I would hope that a school of Sam Merritt's caliber would send out letters via snail mail. Anyone else heard about this email thing???

It turns out the emailed invitations didn't go out until after 8PM February 12th, at least that's when I got mine. I was told that they would send a confirmation "snail mail" too. Has anyone else gotten an invite?

Congrats! I applied to Samuel Merritt, but did not receive an email. I guess that means I will not be invited for an interview :( I am somewhat devastated. Oh well, I will have to find out out what my weak points were and strengthen them. Just out of curiosity, could you tell me your stats? I'll share mine as well, just wondering how far off I am numbers wise from the rest of the application pool. Thanks.

Ramon :crying2:

Ramon, I too did not get an email from SM. I guess next week I'll call and see what I need to improve for next time. I think my GRE was probably not as competitive. my GPA is 3.8 w a current 4.0 for my BSN. GRE 1160 writing 5.5. I also won't be done w/BSN until May this year but had spoken w/ director as was told it would be ok to apply since have a prior BS (business). ICU/CVICU RN 7years + CCRN, TNCC, ACLS, PALS. Oh well, I know how hard it is to get into Cali schools due to the overwhelming amt of apps.

:crying2:

The following is my profile. Overall, it sounds like you were a stronger applicant. i am suprised you haven't heard from Samuel Merritt. I am not a very strong standardized test taker. Good luck to you, stay in contact.

U.C. San Francisco Nursing GPA: 3.63(Last 60 units).

U.C. Berkeley B.A. in Anthropology GPA: 3.52(Last 65 units).

GRE: Quantitative 530

GRE: Verbal 430 (I know not very impressive).

Introductory General Chem: B-

General Organic and Biochem (currently halfway thru 89.6%) maybe a B or A depends on final.

Anatomy and Physiology A and B

3 Days shadow CRNA

5 Very strong letters of recommendation

Possibly a Physics course next semester

3 1/2 years so far of ICU experience in a Level One Medical Surgical Trauma ICU at Stanford Univeristy Medical Center.

I wrote a very thorough and strong statement of purpose.

traumacrna,

My stats are not as impressive as the rest of you guys I've seen here. The only thing I can think of that might have given me the edge is that the SICU I work in has great opportunities:

-Heart, Lung, Renal transplants

-Post op hearts

-Trauma I pts that cover 5 states

-Balloon Pumps

-LVADS/BIVADS

But I don't know how your experience compares

GRE: 1100/4

GPA: 3.74

BSN

4yrs as a Tech and 14 months as an RN in the SICU

Great Letters of Rec

ACLS/PALS

Anyway good luck and don't give up.

Kevin

I am extremely excited! I just found out I have an interview at Samuel Merritt as well. I feel like I have been working toward this for ever. It aint over yet though. The suspense was killing me, so I had to call. It turns out they have not finished emailing or snail mailing people to invite them for the interview. Good luck to everyone.

Ramon
