    At what age do most CRNA's retire? Is it realistic to expect to practice into your late 60's or is the job more than most at that age can handle? I am asking because I am at 42 y/o career changer getting a BSN with the intention of pursuing a CRNA. Wondering if the amount of time I would have to practice will support the amount of debt I will incur. I would be 48 by the time I would be done with school.

    you will still be a spring chicken--most CRNA's are older anyway--focus on your passion and not the age factor--since when do you have to be a certain age for retirement standards?? best to you, hty/

    Retire--you've got to be kidding. What would I do? I am 65 and still love doing anesthesia every day, although I got a little tired last week when I had a 6 day week. As long as there is a shortage of anesthesia providers, as long as there is work, as long as I can continue to do safe anesthesia, I will continue. This is a profession not a job, so go for it, no matter what your age.
