relocating?

Hope I haven't annoyed anyone yet, but I just need to figure out if this goal I have as a CRNA is going to be realistic for me to achieve. Where I live in Tampa, I have to relocate for school. They are all about 4 hours away, I would have to leave my husband behind for a little because he cannot relocate for 27 months. Thank god I don't have kids yet. I'll probably have to get an apartment or a cheap house if I do persue my dream, but what about these clinicals? Are they usually hospitals around the school area or are they all over the state that you can choose from? What has everyone else done, if you do not live close to your CRNA program area and have a family? Picking up and moving my whole family is not an option.

PS. I READ THIS SITE ALL THE TIME AND I HAVE LEARNED SOOOOOOOO MUCH. YOU GUYS ARE REALLY GREAT AND VERY WILLING TO HELP OTHERS PREPARE!

I live on the west coast where there are few CRNA programs so I am moving cross country even though I love where I live. My wife fortunately is able to come with me.

All schools are different. Some have all local clinicals and others you commute to or stay long term in another area. I would think that things would be pretty close together in Florida.

My thought is that if this is your dream and you really want it then even big barriers like geography and family seperation won't prevent it from happening. Everyone has a different marriage, but the way I feel about it is that in the long-term my wife and my family are the main priority but in the short term I may have to make something else a priority to make a better life for us. A sense of delayed gratification really can bring a lot of happiness down the road.

I think that if you go to Barry in Miami you may be able to do your clinical work in Orlando. At least that would be a lot closer when clinicals start.

We have a girl in our program who is here in DC while her husband is maintaining the homestead in florida. It can be done.

Default fgcu and tampa clinicals
fgcu (florida gulf coast university) has tampa as a primary clinical site. you would have to commute to ft myers (to the college) for class and you could complete all of your clinicals there where you live. check out their web-site for more info.
