Puerto Rico school feedback?

Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

La universidad Interamericana de Arecibo along with El Recinto de Ciencias Medicas in Rio Piedras offer this 24/25 month program. I have a friend who graduated from this program in Arecibo and passed her CRNA boards right away. She says it was easy cuz they prepare you really well. SHe's working in Ohio now making 120K. YOu have to be bilingual though cause some teachers are American and others speak Spanish. The books are in English but the clinicals are with a Spanish population, and EVERYTHING is in Spanish. Default Less difficult to get accepted?
I am bilingual, so that would not be an issue. But, does anyone know if it is easier to get accepted in a Puerto Rico program? That would be a serious plus!!!!

Yes, it is easier to get into a PR school. I am a nursing student at the Metro campus (for RN) and they easily accept people.

I have 2 friends in the Arecibo program and its all in Spanish with English books.

yes, but how do employers view your going to school in PR? I would imagine it is the same as for foreign-educated nurses/doctors, but who knows. This IS America, after all...

I would imagine with the lack of nurses not too many hospitals will care where you went to school. Your goal is to pass NCLEX. Getting and education in someplace other than Boring Town, USA shows dedication, cultural experience and a sense of adventure.
Good luck to you.

Nurse anesthesia certification is not overseen by NCLEX.

Hi anetesiaponce,

you are saying its not easy being admitted into the school? I spoke to a counselor there who said that as long as you meet the requirements admission is very likely.

what type of GPA are they looking for? Does it help if you do your undergrad on the island?
