Precordial Stethoscope Question

by NEC1970

Greetings,

I am a beginning SRNA. They have requested we purchase a Precordial for upcoming rotations. Anyone have any thoughts on buying a precordial at-home kit vs going to a Hearing Aid store to get fitted. I am within a budget but prefer not to sacrifice quality over the long haul.
Do practicing CRNAs still use the Precordial or have they gone back to their traditional stethoscope? Also, is an electronic Precordial better? thanks...

Default Re: Precordial Stethoscope Question
I still use my precordial, made by a hearing aid company when I was in school, 19 years later. I even have the other ear piece they made in case I lost my original and it's never been used b/c my other still works fine. I'd get a quality one. Do I use it everyday, no. But, I use it 100% of the time when I do children.

thank you for the reply. I will purchase one soon. I am being fitted in a few weeks as the hearing aid store is backed up right now. I observed a case with an MDA recently and he used the precordial. Said he wouldn't do a case without it and has been practicing > 30 yrs. We start rotation in December.
