Pre-Interview meeting

by Gump
Updated Oct 23, 2003 at 04:28 PM by Gump

I'm scheduled to meet with the director of one of the programs that I'm applying next week. I'm meeting with them just for some preliminary questions regarding getting permission to take an upper level class prior to being accepted to the CRNA program and to get info on financial aid. My question is, would this be a good time to ask questions specifically related to me being accepted into the program or should I wait until the interview (if I get invited to one, that is). If this is not the time to ask those type questions, can you all give me some suggestions on what would be appropriate to discuss (other than taking a higher level class and financial aid). I figured that this may be a good opportunity to ask a few without getting into too much detail.

Hello,

I just completed an informational interview an I was encouraged to ask any questions pertaining to their program, including those involving the admissions process. I found out how they scheduled their interviews and approximately how long before a decision is reached. I encourage you to also have many other questions to gain greater insight into the program, but admissions is fair game. A good candidate is a good canditate--your being optimistic! In addition I received my invite for an interview 3 days later, so it obviously wasn't to presumptious. Good luck! Jeff

I would say be prepared to ask a lot of questions. The more you learn about a program the better. I had an informal over-the-phone meeting with the director of one program and we spoke for about 30 min about the program. She was able to learn about me and I found out a lot about the program. You also get your name cirulating, and if, as in my case, the person is one of the people who interview you, it can't hurt. Good luck.

Default pre interview
I have a pre-interview also. I basically just called the director and to ask the status of my application and she said "why dont you just come down to meet us and then the students can show you around?" I dont think this is a FORMAL interview but im gonna treat it like one regardless. Just wondering how it went for you?

Default pre interview
It went very well for me and it was very informal. I had some very general questions for him. Most of them I thought I already new the answers to, but I just needed him to confirm them for me.

The main thing that I wanted was for the director to "remember" me, so hopefully come interview time, he will.
