Yes, you will need the BSN, as well as exceptional grades in school. As well as experience working in an ICU for one to two years. So you are looking at anesthesia school about 6 years from now.

Have you ever shadowed a CRNA? I highly recommend that you do that and see if that is something that you would really want to do. It is quite different to read about it then seeing it done in front of you.

If I'm correct, I think that some anesthetist programs with accept RN's with a bachelor's degree in another field. You might want to check into that before going for a BSN if you're interested in becoming a CRNA. You can go to allnursingschools.com for info.

Being that you already have an undergraduate degree, you should really consider an accelerated BSN program as opposed to ADN then BSN. These programs usually range from 12 to 15 months. The programs are challenging and cost more than an ADN but you can cut years out of your timeline. My accelerated BSN education was excellent.

With regards to working as a STAFF RN, associate degree RN and BSN do the same job. BSNs have more upward mobility with regards to management positions, etc.

You never mentioned about already having another degree. I would definitely go the route of the Accelerated program.

Those non-BSN degrees are usually science based. A marketing degree is not likely to be accepted as "an appropriate degreee".

I would agree with the others that an accelerated program is a faster route. I have a BS in Computer Science ans started the AS Community College route but found out that all the colleges have a two year waiting list, and that's after you've taken the prereqs and been accepted into the nursing program. I found that the Accelerated BSN programs have no waiting lists and are about 14 or 15 months long. They usually require a 3.0 gpa though. I actually am starting a Master's Nursing accelerated program in May 06. Hopefully this will cut out some of my courses in the CRNA program.
