Need advice on research paper...

To all CRNAs/SRNAs on this forum:

It's time for us in our program to come up with a research topic related to anesthesia. We're not required to do a thesis, but a research proposal/lit review, etc. The topic that I came up with has something to do with surgical patients who are diabetic, being given lactated ringers vs normal saline drips. Some say, that NS is the fluid of choice for DM patients, and that LR would affect their metabolic state. But then again, I've received patients from pre-op for surgery with LR drips too.

Any input on whether or not this is a worth while research topic to write about?

Thanks in advance.
