Need advice on moving...

Hi Everyone,

For those who have experience in hiring moving companies:

I am moving from CA to OH. Anyone have recommendations on a REPUTABLE moving company? :rolleyes:

Just wanted to say hello and say, I too just moved from Ca (San Diego) to IL, 9 months ago, and will be moving to Cincinnati, OH in July. Although, we don't have a moving company yet to do our move in the summer, I just wanted to say HELLO and find out where exactly you were going...

I'll be moving from CA to OH (Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) this July.

Thanks to all who offered tips on moving! I have a person from UnitedVanLines coming tomorrow to look over my entire house and he/she will give me a quote. I like their reviews from epinion.com. PLUS, they have this deal where I pack myself...then they hawl them from the house into the truck and drive to the destination, and UNLOAD for me! Whewwwww! That'll save my back from pain and suffering! :rotfl: I'll let you guys know what happens. THE SAGA CONTINUES!

Oh, that's not too far from me, about 1.5 hours. I had an aunt that lived there for several years...she was an executive for Youngstown State Univ.

Anyway, there are some really nice areas there. Good luck!

I have a distant aunt that lives in Erie. I guess she won't be THAT distant no more. :chuckle

PODS is the company that drops off a cargo container then picks it up and moves it to your location. but when i moved to cal from louisiana there were no PODS franchises in cali. so i did the uhaul thing.

i will get a professional mover to go back tho.

I have a UnitedVanLines Rep coming today to estimate the move. I had a phone estimate of 6,800 bucks for the whole move. This entails me packing my stuff myself, but THEY haul into the truck, drive to the destination, and unload into the house. I would also hire them to move 3 cars as well. They said, they will charge 800 bucks for each car...depends on their value, etc, etc.

So far, they are on top of my list.

I will let you guys know how it goes...
