How did you prep for CRNA School?

So I’m sitting around wondering about BSN’s who decide to go back to get their masters in nurse anesthetist. Now I imagine the classes are mostly dominated by chemistry courses (since you’ll be working mostly with medications) and we all know that chemistry is not everyone’s favorite subject and we all know how difficult and the kind reputation that organic chemistry has; so my question is this; how in the world can a nurse who hasn’t seen a chemistry class for let’s say 10-15 years excel in CRNA school?

Does the school take this into account? I’m sure that they’re aware that some if not most of their students have been practicing nursing for a very long time and decided to go back to school to get a higher degree.

So how did you do it? Was it a struggle at first or did you just fall right in? Did the school take it easy on you at first

or was it your responsibility to freshen up in your sciences before applying to the school?

Have you seen students struggle specifically because of the time away from science (chemistry) classes? How did the school/student handle it?

I'm not a CRNA nor am I in school for it, yet. =)
I've researched some schools and they require all science courses to be taken within the last five years of your application date. You'll probably have to retake the pre-req courses.
Since CRNA school is highly competitive and at graduate level, I doubt they'll go easy on the students.

Actually chemistry is not the biggest part, A&P and patho is the largest part, they do not care how long you have been doing it come loaded for bear, they want the best they can get and 99% of the time that is what they take. Yes it was struggle but if you want it you have to work for it.

Really, if you haven't been in school for 15 years, you may want to repeat a couple of classes. Namely statistics (upper level) and maybe O-Chem. Do you even know what an APA formatted paper is?
