Gre

How much of an impact if any does the GRE have in getting accepted to CRNA school? According to a few program directors I spoke with they indicated they only care that you have taken the exam. However, I have never seen a poor score on these boards. I just took the exam today and did exceptionally poor total-790. Has anyone done as poorly on the GRE and gotten in? I have a cum GPA 3.6 and been on the Dean's List several times. I work in a Cardiac ICU and Emergency Department at a Level 1 trauma facility.

I did not do that great on the Gre myself total score in the 900's but I was granted an interview several places so evidently I looked good enough on paper to get an interview, will not know the status until September for the first school, and have an interview August 21st for the second school. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Take heart! Don't give up! If you know how to improve your results - could you take it again?

At the SOM near where I live - this is what is listed in their admission requirements:

3. Satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Exam General Test taken within five years of applying. The average GRE score for admitted students was 476 verbal and 545 quantitative for the class of 2006 and 475 verbal and 607 quantitative for the class of 2005.

Maybe speak with a mentor - they may have some advice.

Your GRE score needs to be high enough to get into Grad school. The program where I'm on the admissions committee uses the GRE as one of 6 admittance criteria. If you are low on this, re-take it, and work hard on other parts of admittance ie....critical care experience, post-grad classes, etc..

Will the school you are applying to accept the Miller Analogies Test? You might do better on that.

Don't give up. I too had a low GRE score slightly below 900 and got into two out of the three schools. If I was you I would take the GRE over again and see if the school will accept the Miller's test. Most importantly- I would apply because the GRE is only one factor of many that determines if you get accepted. Good luck.
