Expelled from Anesthesia School for Adultery?

  1. Anesthesia school -- oh, the drama! Who has time for this? Anyway, questions have been raised at school regarding expulsion of SRNAs based on "immoral" activity, namely adultery. Is that legal? Possible? Any thoughts?

I know here in Connecticut Adultery is still on the Blue Laws and one CAN be arrested and charged with Adultery if the spouse being cheated on wants to persue it. Of course no one has been arrested, charged and imprisoned for Adultery lately.

I'd have to think that if an "act" is against the law in the State you are taking your classes in, then in fact, they could expele you for "immoral" activity.

While I was a probie for my volunteer ambulance association, they did have a paragraph that stated you could have your membership terminated due to immoral activity. I asked what would be considered "immoral" and who exactly would be deciding what in fact is "immoral"? I stated that some people think that not going to Church is immoral, would that be grounds for dismissal. They stated that anything for which you could be arrested and charged with could and/or would be considered a reason for dismissal, at the disgression of the Chief and other officers.

Depends on what school you're at and what kind of documents you signed to get in. I went to nursing school at a Christian college, and we had to sign a code of conduct before we started there. We could potentially have been expelled for smoking!

How in the world would they know who is committing adultery ? And what do they consider "immoral", cause what is immoral to one may not be immoral to another?

This is unbelievably pathetic that "adultery" whatever their definition may be, would be used as a bludgeon against students in any discipline. If the school were a privately funded religious school, then they may be able to get away with it, but get real! What about the right to sexual preference...doesn't that extend to preferring someone elses spouse? ;-)

yea, and getting expelled for SMOKING?? i don't smoke but c'mon... i guess bedside nursing would be better than getting an education in anesthesia from a potential "brainwashing" institution as previously stated.. sorry, no hard feelings, but it's just my take on things........

so does this mean that one can get expelled for wiping back to front? you know, that could potentially give someone coodies unintentionally of course.. salem trials here we come again...

all's i'm saying is the same thing i said to my peers the whole time i was in nursing school - if you disagree or don't want to deal with the rules, don't sign the paper. there's lots of other school out there without such strict codes of conduct.

and i guess, if it were on the paper signed, wiping back to front could get you the boot! makes me want to take a closer look at the fine print ... =)

Yes, it happens. There's an interesting story about a school in the Northeast, a program director, and a married student . . . no one finished out the year.
