CRNA School Reassurance

by nitro23

Hello,
I just need some reassurance that I have a chance of getting into CRNA school before I lose my mind.
I just graduated with my bsn degree with a 3.5 overall GPA with about a 3.0 in the sciences (3.8 gpa in bsn program). I have two years of experience in adult MSICU with three years as an RN. I received a 430 verbal, 430 quantitative, 4.5 analytical writing. Are my chances good for getting into CRNA School? Anybody out there get in with these grades and GRE scores? I have applied to five schools so far. Thanks for your time.
By the way anybody heard anything about the CRNA school in Buffalo, any good?

I applied to Buffalo, CAMC in WV, Wisconsin, Bryan LGH, and Memorial School of Rhode Island. I will hear whether I get an interview to Buffalo next month some time.

I heard they are going to be held in Sept, OCT, or Nov but that was about how well they nailed it down for me. I have a few real good things about it. What kind of GPA and experience do you have?

Default School
There is no doubt Buffalo has a good program...like many other schools. I have been accepted to another program, which is likely were I will be going. I applied to Buffalo for a more economical option since I was having anxiety when I realized how much debt I would incur otherwise. I don't know what you know about the locale, but it is not that desireable in my opinion. Something like 90 inches of snow in the winter...which is more than Portland, Maine if you believe that. Also, have you analyzed their curriculum? There is an excessive amount of "nursing" fluff in the first year. Now all programs have certain MSN classes, but they have more than any other program I looked into. All that would easily make me loose interest. It's something like 7 classes. You may love the area and the program. Good luck!

I have 4yrs trauma experience, a 3.59, 580 quan/480 ver, and some other random goodies.

What program did you get accepted into? Thanks for the info. I don't mind the snow, although I hear it's not unusual to wake up to 2 feet of new snow in the morning. Good luck to you also.

nitro you should be ok except for the GRE scores. some schools put more weight on them than others. most schools want a 1000 over all. buffalo does have a good program. but i don't know what they requirements are for the gre. other schools to look at are st. joe's in RI, UNE, and Central CT. best of luck.

When I applied to Buffalo two years ago, they did not require the GRE if your undergrad GPA was acceptable (3.0 I think?). The interview was low stress, and went very smoothly. They did, however, ask a few clinical questions, but nothing that some time in a good ICU wouldn't teach you. Most schools that require the GRE typically look for minimum combined score greater than 1000. Good luck!
