Crna School Clinical Sites

  1. Hello. I have been reading these crna posts for well over a year now. I have found the information here to be very helpful, and have used the information here as a road map to follow to get to crna school. I have recently interviewed at TCU and TWU in the past 2 weeks. Both interviews went well. Clinical sites in North Texas are filling up fast, if not already full. My wife, children and I are comitted to getting "in", and will relocate anywhere for my crna residency. Does anyone have any info on Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton Ca. or the available clinical sites Pensacola Florida?. I am California native, (but Texan By choice) so Colton Ca. is very familiar to me, but the hospital is not. I sure would appreciate any info, and look forward to being an active participant in these discussions.

    Thanks

i'm in the kaiser program and did 4 months at arrowhead, good staff, good case mix, a little on the slow side for OB. lots of trauma, you take call etc scheduled like staff. but with twu tcu and kaiser and navy i think it could be getting a little crowded i'm not sure. i would call them and ask what it's like now.

I am from TWU and my primary clinical site is Arrowhead. There are plenty of cases to go around. You are treated as staff and are expected to take about 4 call shifts a month. You will have rotations to Loma Linda for hearts and other complicated cases, Navy for high risk OB, and Kaiser Riverside and/or Kaiser Fontana.

The hospital is about 5 years old, so most of the equipment is new.

The OB department is much busier now than gaspassah probably experienced. In January there were 322 births.

PM me if you have questions.

Think twice before choosing Wesleyan. Substandard instruction. Weird scene. Too many students. No university accountability, no school dean- only director and 2 other people for over 120 students. A&P instructor administers exams that would not pass any validity and reliability test for the ETS or APA and they are definitely not open to ANY observations or criticisms. You will be punished if you do not submit. Third Reich of CRNA schools.

    do/did you actually attend twu?
i'll admit that dr. reinke's exams are hellahard, but it is graduate school afterall. he just believes that crna education should not play 2nd to anyone. he taught at a med school before twu & stated in our class last wk that we get the same a&p as his med students did + a little more. i will concede that there are a few things that i do not like about twu (lg class size & crappy campus..but the na building is new & nice), but i guarantee
that twu students are some of, if not the best (at least didactically) prepared rrnas.

I go to TWU and I would put my CRNA education against any other schools. Not to put down any other school at all, but I do feel like we are very well prepared if not better than some I have seen. There are flaws with any program.

    Squinkybear1,

Texas Wesleyan's "Substandard instruction" is continually producing graduates who do extremely well on the certification exam. For instance, the graduates of 2004 have 100% pass rate so far with many students scoring the highest possible score.

Congrat to you lashbyccrn. I spent today hanging out at Arrowhead and was very impressed with everyone. I'm hoping I have one of those letters in the mail within the next day or two - Lord willing.

Arrowhead is my 1st choice as far as clinical sites too. From what everyone who's gone through the program is saying, that's the best site. I got in but still waiting on a site.
