It depends on the school to which you are applying...helps to contact the schools you are interested in early to get the inside scoop. I couldn't help noticing you are a TAMUCC grad...I just moved from Corpus three weeks ago! I am starting UT-houston's CRNA program in august...I worked for Bay Area CVICU and Driscoll's PICU (the majority of my nursing experience is pediatric). However, it is important to note that I am a rarity...most schools prefer some form of adult ICU experience. Good luck to you.

A lot of schools want ICU experience pretty much, but many schools will take students with ICU, ER, CVSU, or sometimes even OR experience, but I wouldn't recommend going the OR route. You won't learn half as much. I work in a CVSU, but went through a critical care fellowship, which basically puts you through critical care teaching and preceptorship. Many CRNA schools want you to have experience with Lines, swans, and hemodynamics. At least the ones I have looked at have wanted you to have that experience. I would say any intensive care or critical care environment would be good, esp. those who see alot of hemodynamic lines and such.
