Anal Retentiveness

by Pete495

I'd like to hear from CRNA's and SRNA's what your preceptors, docs, and coworkers are telling/showing you that annoy you the most.

The other day, was with a patient who the SRNA and the CRNA couldn't intubate w/ a 7.5 and a 7.0. MDA stepped up to the mic, struggled with a 6.5ETT and finally tubed the patient, then went off the handle about how there wasn't a syringe on the tube to inflate. well, doctor, if you wait 2 seconds, I can reach to the cart and get you a syringe, you prick.

Between taping the tube, and putting your o2 sat. on the right finger, somedays it is enough to just get through the day. It's helpful to know that others are suffering through the same minor annoyances, so thanks for sharin.

hey pete

I am not a SNRA but i have spent alot of time in the OR with MDAs intubating. On various occasions I have had these fellows over my shoulder. While they mean well, its frustrating when someone freaks because you blow up the ETT balloon "too quickly".

I share your frustration at times!

I hear you, brother. I don't want to get into it on the board, but today was one of the yuckier days. My mantra is "this will all be worth it in the end . . ."

Yesterday I was suturing/tying a CVP line and the anesthesiologist is right over me saying "you're doing it all wrong, what are you doing... TYING SHOELACES?!?" Nice. The best part of it was that the patient was still awake.... although he had some Versed on board, it probably made him a little uncomfortable.

Yeah.... my pet peeve is being "corrected" in front of awake patients.
