Thinking of pursuing cnm...

Hi Everyone

My name is Claire and I have a quick question for you.. I am about 1 month from my RN (fingers crossed!) and I am very very interested in pursuing a career in midwifery. I'm not even sure how I started becoming interested in it, but before I knew it I was reading everything I could about childbirth, breastfeeding, etc. I believe that in this field, hospitals have really over complicated things (of course I know how important they are in emergencies.. but for normal low-risk people..) and that midwives are really the best thing for mothers and their babies. Long story short, it feels like midwifery would be a really nice fit for me.

For some of you that are CNMs.. what are the pros and cons of your field?? Thank you so much for your insight!
