Statistics course advice

Hello all! I am in the process of applying to Frontier and need to take statistics (yuck!). I know the course at U.Utah is approved and there is one there at Frontier. Has anyone taken either of these courses? The one at U.Utah is approximately half the price as the one at Frontier. Honestly, I want the one that is going to take me the least amt of time and is the easier one - doesn't everyone? I am not afraid of the course (okay a little) I just want to get it out of the way and don't know the best route to take. I have tried to get two classes close to home approved and they have been a no go. Please help me make this decision. TIA!

Christy

I am taking mine online with the U.Utah. This was a recommended class from Frontier. Here is the link, I am taking the PSY 3000 Statistical Methods in Psychology. http://continue.utah.edu/distance/online.php

OMG - I hate math big time have some form of mental block the utah course looks too much for me - canyon college makes me feel a little less sick has anyone completed that one - OMG - whet about frontiers how do you test from home with open books or do you have to go to testing centers look already I am getting worked up! Help me please

Belinda,

Really the Utah one isn't too bad. It is all open book and very easy to follow. It is written in a very easy to understand way. It does cover a lot of material but they have done a great job of putting it together. I heard that Frontier was no longer accepting the Canyon College course so make sure it will qualify for the school you want to attend before you take it. Test wise for the Utah course it is open book and I take it at the Library.

Does this class from Utah get accepted by most of the nursing program? Thank you all for the replies!:yeah:

Christy: Help! I am applying to Frontier also (a friend is in it and LOVES it!), but I am completely dumb in math and do NOT know algebra and I have to take (ugh) statistics. What one did you end up taking and what do you suggest? Any help (and support) is gratefully appreciated!

The Frontier class is not bad at all. Very little math...you mostly use SPSS, which is a program that comes with your textbook. The name of the textbook says it all..."Statistics for People Who Think They Hate Statistics." There is only one "test" and if I remember correctly it was open book. There are several small graded assignments that you complete along the way.

I just finished the University of Utah Stats class. VERY easy and I don't like math and I dreaded this class terribly. They give you all the information you'll need to pass their tests if you are willing to take the time to find it.

All the tests are open book/notes. All the assignments are online and you are able to have "do overs" to raise your grade - very easy to get 100% on assignments and games if you are willing to take the time...... It was a very simple, very easy class. I took it over Frontier's because Frontier's was kind of expensive when I compared it to U of U.

Thank you so VERY much!!!! You are an angel in my book! You just ook my anxiety level down by 90%!

Barb,

Don't let this hold you back, you can do it. I agree with mom2michael the U of Utah Stats class gives you all you need to pass. It is well written and you can redo assignments to get the grade you want. Most, if not all, of the "math" portion is done by the program you just need to know how to plug in the numbers. It really isn't as scary as it seems. The hardest part is taking the first step then rest will follow. Good luck to you.

quick question -

I am looking for an online stats class right now. Were the stats courses you guys took entirely online? including the tests, midterm, and final?

Yes, mine was totally online--a lot of work, but it was fun! I am now doing nursing research. Frontier's course is EXCELLENT!!!

Great!

Can you tell me about the course format?

Was there a lot of homework? How many exams? How long ago did you take it?

Sorry for all the questions - I'm just having a hard time deciding which online program to choose!

Thanks for your help!
