How to become CNM

I am a freshmen Pre-nursing student of CSU Fullerton. Wanted to know what educational path i must take to become a CNM. Must I become NP? Cause I also want to become an NP who specializes in OB. What should I do? What school?

Did you know that CSUF has a nurse-midwifery program? BJ Snell is the director and is quite approachable if you contact her through the school or her birth center in Laguna Hills (Beach Cities Midwifery & Women's Health Care).

Here's a great place to start... The American College of Nurse Midwives. You will find a lot of background information as well as all the schools that offer the CNM program. This is the official resource.

With roots dating to 1929, the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is the oldest women's health care organization in the U.S. ACNM is the professional association that represents Certified Nurse-Midwives and Certified Midwives in the United States. ACNM provides research, administers and promotes continuing education programs, establishes clinical practice standards, creates liaisons with state and federal agencies and members of Congress. </SPAN>
