I'm sam and i'm 17 and I hope to end up becoming a CNM if all goes well. i was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me(you dont have to of course) but I'm very into "planning" my life out and this woudl eb helpful...

1. How old were you when you got out of school??

Early 30's, there were some younger and some older in my cohort

2. Did you have to take a year off to work between your BSN and your CNM to get into school??

I did not have to, but did anyway. Schools vary on whether they require that or not. Employers, in my experience, want you to have the experience.

3. On average how much was Grad school(i want to go to UCI and cant find grad school pricing)

It varies greatly depending on whether you go to a public or private school. Master's degree programs are usually about 45 credits. You can call the school and ask how much per credit the tuition is right now, and then there are usually lots of fees. By the time you get there, the costs are going to be more, obviously.

4. How long did it take to get your CNM??

A normal, full time program is about 2 years. It took me 3 years because I took the first year courses over 2 years time. The second year I was full time.

5. Were you able to work during that time??

Yes, I worked either part time or full time for most of the program, except for integration, which is your internship. Integration was a full-time semester with no time to work, in my case.

6. Did you ahve any children???

Yes, I have 2, the younger one was born during my midwifery program. I went back full-time when he was 5 weeks old. I took him to class :lol2:

7. On average what wa syour starting salary rigth out of school???

You can find salary information here - http://www.acnm.org/careers.cfm?id=91 - along with a lot of other good information for you. I was happy with my salary out of school.

Thanks :)
