Er rn going to icu

I have worked as an ER RN in the past 6 yrs and recently took 9 months away to work outside of a hospital setting. Now Im bored and would like to try ICU nursing. I still love my ER work and I found it very challenging taking care of ICU holds in ER but I know there is more to that to ICU nursing and I'm really excited about learning knew things....Just wanted to hear from any ER to ICU RNs on their thoughts about working in the ICU..................day's vs night shifts.......teaching vs non -teaching hospitals....etc.

I just transferred from ER to ICU after all my nsg and prehospital time in the ER environment. You will be fine. It is allot slower pace and allot more charting and what not but you already know the what to do when the patient is going downhill. It's the routine med/surg type stuff like q2hr mouthcare, turns, bedbaths, full assessments that I had initial struggles with.

Good Luck
