The test was a doozy, tougher than CCRN in my opinion! Know hemodynamics inside and out (numbers and how to treat), know 12 lead EKGs and correlation to injury, heart blocks, review ACLS, Pulmonary HTN, NSTEMI VS STEMI, Angina & Unstable angina, heart failure (acute vs chronic), cardiac meds (fibrinolytics, pressors, vasodilators.. etc). Basically study everything in the test plan in the link above because it covered it ALL. This test was well-rounded. It even had a few questions related to neuro, renal, and pulmonary complications. Glad it is over

Passing score is 51 out of 75 scored (90 questions total).

Thanks for the info!! How long did you study/prepare for the exam before taking it? How long would you recommend?

I would recommend taking a 12 lead EKG course if possible (check with your nurse educator). I think that if you have been working with CCU type patients for a while then you should be fine, because you will have that knowledge base to pull from. But I would definitely review the test plan for a few months (2-3) before taking the exam. I just hate to cram for any test, the learning process is what makes it worthwhile

I took and passed the CMC exam yesterday, yea! So glad it's over. It's a well-rounded exam, not too hard but definitely not easy. I thought it was easier than the CCRN, though, because all of your studies are concentrated to CV instead of having to study every body system in depth. I bought the CMC review DVD from aacn.org, watched each DVD once, and studied a little bit (appx 30-45 mins) on my breaks at work for about 2 weeks. Does any one have a used AACN CSC review material they might want to sell. I would like to take the test but the fee is already expensive and to spend $150+ on material you will only use for a few weeks seems too steep -- any leads appreciated.

Congrats on passing guys! I passed my CMC on May 11. We have a huge push for CCRN in our unit.. not much of a push for CMC. I passed my CCRN a few months ago and used PASSCCRN!, the newest edition. When I went to study for my CMC, I used the same exact book and studied the same exact way... I look at the test plan from the AACN website, and then I look up the topics in the book according to the test plan. Otherwise, you are trying to read massive amounts of information... a lot of which doesn't apply. That was the only resource I used, and I found it to be very effective.
