  1. I would like to know if anyone knows about a good book or article that explain how to do a stimulation threshold and sensitivity threshold, some people call it capture and sensitivity it all mean the same thing, also if someone can explain for me what is PVARP and VRP. Also does anyone know where I can find some good teaching material on PICCO and BIVAD, I would be happy to hear from you, thanks very much:typing

I did a quick google search using your terms and came up with the following:
Article w/basic info on temp pacers:

    http://mediwire.skyscape.com/main/De...ticleID=103200

    power point:

    http://www.scst.org.uk/laurendocs/Te...aining%202.ppt

This looks like a good book:

Not too much came up on PiCCO and BIVAD (except a few sites which required membership in order to view the articles, and half of those were in German ). There were some references to it in symposiums for Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists. Do a search and see what you come up with.

    Good luck!

Your unit should have a manual from the brand of temporary pacer you use floating around somewhere, I would suggest reading that first. Same thing with the BIVAD machines.

BiVAD? What type? There is plenty of information at www.thoratec.com about Thoratec pVAD/iVADs. If you search medline, there are several good articles about BiVAD use, for example:

Tsukui et al, "Biventricular Assist Device Utilization for Patients with Morbid Congestive Heart Failure", Circulation. 2005;112:I-65 - I-72.
