Questions for AACN members

Hello all,

I'm currently a student in an RN-BSN program. We have an assignment that involves interviewing a nurse that is a part of a professional organization. Since I work in a cardiac/telemetry unit, many of my colleagues are a part of AACN, so this in an organization I am very interested in. Since our unit is also very busy, I have no time to interview any nurses. I've poured over the website and already have quite a bit of information for my paper, but I'd also really like some more personal answers to add to this paper. All are welcome to respond, the more I can learn, the better. Thank you!

[h=3]What is the name of the professional nursing organization?[/h][h=3]What is the focus of the organization? What are its goals?[/h][h=3]What is the rationale for joining the organization? In other words, why would a nurse want to be a member of this particular organization?[/h][h=3]When and where does the organization meet? For how long? How frequently?[/h][h=2]Describe one current issue that is a focus of concern to the organization's membership and discuss how the issue is being addressed by members or leaders of the organization.[/h]

I'm not an AACN member, but have you considered taking a colleague out for a bite to eat after your shift and doing the interview?

I'm sure your local chapter of AACN would welcome you as a student member (so would the national organization). Come to a meeting and ask your questions there. Though I like the above answer better. :-)

Ask one of your colleagues, or attend a local AACN chapter meeting. You may find some willing to answer your questions, and perhaps mentor you :)
