Cardiothoracic single stay units

Can anyone with experience in a cardiothoracic single stay unit explain to me a little bit about their experience there? I have ICCU experience, but at a facility that does not provide open heart. I am interviewing with a facility who does have a single stay unit and would be interested to hear how other nurses like the set up? Also, how is the nursing delegated? Seems as though you are hired onto the unit and progress with seniority and experience...should I expect that I would be functioning as more of telemetry nurse in the beginning before gaining experience and a place on the open heart team? How do you like working in this environment?
