  1. Does Afib cause increased or decreased preload? I always thought increased because of backup, but book says decreased. Ok, OH nurses, help

    Its decreased. You're missing out on the atrial kick that primes the ventricle of about 20% more blood at end diastole. Not to mention if it's rapid afib you're going to have less time to fill the ventricles.
