Hi, I am not a case manager but seeing alot of job opportunities for this. What does it entail to become a nurse case manager? Do you need a masters or do you have to take a certification class or what? I can't quite figure it out. I have many years of experience in all areas and am a CLNC. Any answers please, I really don't want to resort to online universities calling me day and night.
It depends on who is hiring. I have an ADN, and a Bacherlor's in Education. The job posting said Bachelor's preferably in Health Care or Nursing, but that's just was the HR dept put on the job posting. The dept I work for just wanted the best people for the job, so that is how they hired.

It doesn't hurt to apply; the worst that can happen will be that you don't get an interview.

I'm an RN with a BSN. I work for an insurance company 2/3rds owned by a local hospital. I do diabetes case management. I'm new to this and previously was working in a family medicine residency clinic as a diabetes educator/triage nurse. I hope to have my CDE certification this fall. My focus is more in education than insurance experience and I try to keep my clinical practice hat while case managing.

There are LPNs doing case management positions so you do not need any specific degree or certification. For specific employers you might but it is definitely possible to do without furthering education if you are a nurse currently. Check into Conifer and JSA Healthcare.
