PCA/HHA Training

I am new to the Case Management part of nursing and have been given the job of training PCA/HHA's. I have a whole packet that I go over to cover the basics, however, I am wondering if anyone as any tips. We aren't the best paying home care agency and therefore get some real winners. How do I go about training someone with no experience in the field?? HELP...any advice is greatly appreciated.

Second I am also the new Private Duty Nursing Supervisor and wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make out nurses feel that they are appreciated. Especially without spending a lot of money we have around 80 nurses. One idea I was given was to call the nurses, LPN's one month and RN's the next and just check in with them to see how things are going and whether they have any concerns. Any other ideas???
