Re: How do I get started in Case Management?
Although I am an ADN working towards my BSN, most starting positions in case management want a BSN and at least 3 to 5 years clinical experience. If you can not find a case management position now, look for other positions that work with case management, such as quality, core measures, auditor, or some hospitals still use separate discharge planners and utilization reviewers. Some posts in other forums also suggest trying case management for an insurance company first. Although the information is probably good, I would not waste my time with an expensive case management course, since you still have to have the 1 to 2 years case management experience to sit for the CCM exam. (Plus, I passed it by relying on what I learned working case management & studying).
