What is the best way to evaluate patients for depression prior to enter cardiac rehab

We currently use CED-S (Radloff) to test our patient's for depression prior to them starting their exercise program. There has to be a more efficient way, that is user friendly. Any suggests?

We always used the Beck depression scale. It was brief, easy for the patient and easy to score.
