Q wave


what does the Q wave do in the EKG? what about if some one doesnt have a Q wave in his EKG?

A downward deflection indicates that the electrical wave is moving away from the sensing electrode. Small Q waves can be normal but large or pathological Q waves indicate an old MI that caused damage extending through the myocardium. This site gives a nice explanation.
