looking for resources for a-fib

by Anagray

Hi, guys.
I am an ER nurse, I'm 33 and I just got diagnosed with new onset fo a-fib. My life and my job are completely screwed up now.
If possible, I'd like to know about any online support groups or any other resources, because I have some questions and I can't ask them here and I don't feel comfortable talking about these things with co-workers who see me every day.

Thanks in advance.
Nat

I googled "support atrial fibrillation" and got a LOT of sites.

One is:

We tend to look at diagnoses differently when WE are the patient.
Keep asking your Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist questions.
Best to you. --- d

Your life and job are not screwed up! I'm sure the diagnosis was a shock, but at least now you can get the right treatment to stabilize the condition. Best of luck to you.

I was diagnosed two months ago with paroxysmal AF. I have a pacemaker for sick sinus syndrome and they found this AF when they did a pacemaker check. How could this be? It explained the possible TIAs I thought I was having. Many hospital online libraries have explanations for the different arrhythmias.

Did they put you on a medication? I was put on Toprol which I did not tolerate at all, and now Sotalol. I also have been taking a daily aspirin for several years. There was a very nice animation on Discovery Health, but I cannot find the web link at the moment. I'll keep looking for it.
