How often do you draw Troponins at your hospital?

Attention All Tele Nurses:

I'm hoping to get a policy changed at my facility.

How often does your hospital have you draw troponin levels? Currently, we are required to check them every 3 hours. I understand that they can be done every 3, 6, and even 8 hours. What is your policy, and what state are you in?

Thanks!

My experience has been either 6 or 8 hours, usually in sets of 3. I've never had them ordered every 3.

Q 6-8 hrs x 3 sets

Wish I could be more specific on the "6-8" part but that really can vary from doc to doc. I wanna say I've seen it Q8 more often than 6 though.

I'm on a med-surg floor. We typically see Q8hrs, but it can vary depending on why the test is being ordered.

Have always seen every 8 hrs x 3. If pt c/o cp again they order the same, sometimes the orders cross each other. Last few places I worked (I'm a traveler) I have seen every 6 x 3.
