First acute care hospital job on Intermediate Coronary Care Unit - advice?

  1. 0 I am happy to say that I have finally landed my dream job working on an intermediate cardiac unit at a large teaching hospital! I have been looking for a position like this for a year and a half. I have been working on a cardiac unit at a sub-acute rehabilitation center, which, in my opinion, is pretty much like a general med-surg unit in a hospital. We see pretty much everything, so I have learned a lot.

I'm looking for advice/tips/words of wisdom on starting in acute care on a critical care cardiac unit. I know I have to take a critical care course and orientation is 12 weeks long on the unit. What should I expect?
