Cardiac preventitive testing?

Specialties Cardiac

My boyfriend's dad passed away in his sleep at 50 years old and they ruled it a hard attack later. I wanted my boyfriend to talk to his doctor about getting cardiac testing done to identify any risk factors or see if their are any abnormalities with his heart...I was wondering if that is possible or if it is even a good idea? Thanks so much!!

Typically, tests such as an exercise treadmill test aren't ordered unless there is a compelling reason, i.e., the patient is having chest pains/discomfort and there are other risk factors involved.

As no one here knows your boyfriend's medical history and cannot do a physical exam, it would be best if he takes the concerns to his doctor or nurse practitioner.

My condolences to him and the family on their loss.
