Winnipeg RN schedules?

by X-treme

For all of you nurses in Winnipeg, what are your full-time schedules like? 12hrs or 8hrs? DDNN? Stretches of days then nights?

I'm particularly in interested in the Emergency room setting at any hospital.

Thanks!

They'll be different in each hospital. Pick a facility and maybe you'll get more informative responses than this one.

I worked in an ICU at the Health Sciences Centre; we worked 12 hour shifts, Th-F-Sa-Su nights, Th-F days, M-Tu-W days, Sa-Su days, M-Tu-W nights then a week off.

Sorry for a really greenhorn question, do you mean:

week 1 Th,F,Sa,Su night
week 2 Th-F nights
week3 M-Tu-Wed days,
week 4- Sa,Su days,
week 5- M-Tu-Wed night
week6 off?

Thanks!

No, what it actually works out to is a four week rotation, 12 hour shifts:
Week 1: Thur-Fri-Sat Nights
Week 2: Sun Night, Thur-Fri Days
Week 3: Mon-Tues-Wed-Sat Days
week 4 Sun Day, Mon-Tues-Wed Nights
then off till the following Thursday night. Every sixth week we'd get a shift dropped to give us the required number of hours for full time. (40 X 12 hour shifts in 12 weeks.)
