Uniform or scrubs in Alberta?

by spots

I'm moving to Alberta this fall and will be working in Calgary. I have a closet full of scrubs in various colors and prints, and my best pair of shoes are black. I am limiting what I take with me and don't want to pack them if they are inappropriate wear for the hospitals in the Calgary Health Region. Any suggestions? Thanks

I work in SK, so can't actually comment on Alberta, but here all scrubs are good. You could always call HR and ask them what the dress code is. Good luck!

Hi Spots,

I used to work at Foothills Medical Centre and basically any scrubs will do. I can tell you some uniform stores. There's one right by the hospital on University Drive I believe called,"Uniforms by Karen." Her sister has a store in the SW by Chinook Mall called," Vogue Uniforms." By Heritage C-Train station, there is,"The Nursing Station." "Med Threads is also in the SW, past Chinook. If you need the exact locations, try and google it or use Superpages.ca. Any other questions, ask away.....where are you working in Calgary and what unit?

Thanks Mark and Kim appreciate your replies. It's great to hear "any" scrubs! I sure didn't want to go back to white (gasp).

Kim, I will be working in the NICU at FMC if all goes well. It's not easy being an American and coming to Canada but I think it will be worth it, you guys are the best

Thanks for the scrub store locations, that will come in handy

Hey again,

I'm not sure what unit NICU is...I used to work on Unit 42b-It's gyne/oncology surgery. I did my schooling out in Alberta but home is in BC. I moved back in April. Foothills is an awesome place to work, busy hospital and big. I hope you have a good time there and I wish you all the best!

Kim
P.S. Winters can get quite cold so I hope you have a good jacket!

Hi Fiona,

Sorry, what I meant to write was....I knew what NICU was but I just didn't what floor. Gosh, after 4 straight nights I can't type properly.

Anywho...off to work for night 5!

Kim
