UK Nurse/Midwife coming to BC Women's

Hi,

I am starting at BC Women's in february 2007 as an Obstetric Nurse, i'm sooo excited, can't wait to be over there and I absolutely love Canada.

If anyone has any advice about BC Women's Hospital, Vancouver in general, Housing etc, or any information on good books I could use as a study guide prior to coming to Canada I would appreciate it.

...or if there are any friendly nurses from Vancouver who work in any of the hospitals, or any UK nurses heading for Vancouver who would like to chat just get back to me.

Look forward to hearing from you all

Kate

Hello Kate!

You will LOVE Vancouver. I have lots of recommendations for accomodations in the area of the Woman's Hospital. The area around the hosptial (residental-wise) is very safe and clean. Generallly, everytime I was searching for an apt here i looked in the newspaper (through www.canada.com - choose the Vancouver Sun or Province) and through the ams rentsline (through ubc's off campus housing).

Lots of places also just put up signs on their front lawns (thats how I came across my current place).

As far as books...hmm...none come to mind.

You should visit Granville Island, Lonsdale Quay, and see Stanley park though...all my favourite places to go.

Good luck in your move...

Karen
