Thanks Kendall16, as for your question, I asked the same thing about switching on my interview and they said if you give them a solid reason they would consider it. So there is some flexibility. In your acceptance email did they give you a certain amount of time to accept the offer?

Hi Michelle,
Thanks for letting me know about switching the intake date, I am going to request a change.

In the letter that they emailed, it said that the deadline for acceptance was July 4th. After that , the offer would be passed on to someone else.

I am mailing in my letter today. I hope you hear back soon, good luck. I know how it feels to be on pins and needles. Good luck!

Thanks Kendall,
For switching, keep in mind you do have to come up with a really good reason why September is better for you. I personally prefer January so I'm sure a lot of people will try to switch.

On your interview did you talk a lot during the 8 minutes or just stop talking once you answered the questions? Did you get a feel at all from the interviewers on anything?

Sounds like if I don't hear back today then I won't be in the first choice batch. The chance of acceptance after July 4th will probably be very slim.

Any idea what percentage of applicants will decline their offers?

HI Michelle,

The last couple of years particularly 2006 and 2007, there were some people that were accepted in mid-July. I am sure that a few people will decline their offers especially if they got in somewhere else. I have no idea what the percentage of people who decline is. I would ask the nursing school about that.

In regards to my interview, I found that I spent the majority of time answering the question and then had probably about three or four minutes to just chat. The chatting was great I found because the interviewers were genuinely nice. One interviewer even talked to me about my travels and told me about an author that she really enjoyed reading. I found that all the interviewers were so nice, that I figured that anything I would say, they would say good job, thanks. So I didn't think to take much from it. I agonized over what I had said . I tried to think of my points and then say a coherent answer. Though sometimes it seemed that I answered rather quick, say three to four minutes and I would be asked if I wanted to add anything. That made me feel really nervous.

I wish you the best, I understand the feeling of waiting and agonizing. I hope you hear soon.

I've been a lurker on the forum for a while but I finally decided to post.

I've also been accepted to UBC for the January intake.

Michelle, did you use a UBC email as your contact info? I had a UBC email and I didn't get my offer until today even though my letter was dated for last week because they've been having problems with bounce back emails from interchange accounts. Someone from UBC Nursing gave me a call today to get an alternate email to send my offer.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! See you on campus!

Hello Codeblue,

I am sorry to hear that you are on a wait list. Your stats were fantastic and I am surprised that you were not accepted in the first round. Were you able to get any feedback from them? Hopefully I will see you in September or January. Best of luck!

I am a bit confused as to why someone would want to go through the painfull process UBC has adopted for their admissions to the BSN program? As I have a bit of experience in the health care field I chose the 4 year program at a college versus the labotomizing process of UBC and their painfully large class sizes, not to mention the higher tuition.

One thing those of you might want to consider is if you get into the accelerated 2 year program when you go into a hospital YOU are now a 3rd year nursing student and expected to perform as one. Just food for thought.

Have a great summer...
