Are there Nurses Aides in Toronto?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into becoming a nurses aide while I study for my BScN in nursing. I've read a few articles that suggest people become a nurses aide before commiting to a career as an RN/RPN so I thought it might be wise. I know that there are CNAs in the US but I'm unclear about their status in Canada.

So far I've found a place called Ewings in Toronto but there isn't too much information about the school on the site ( http://www.ewingscanada.com/courses-...assistant.html )

Has anyone heard of it?
Does anyone know of a Toronto college that offers a program to train as a nurses aide?

Are there jobs for a CNA available in Toronto? If so, are there any online resources that I could look into? I've checked workopolis.com with no luck.

What other viable options are there for someone wanting to work in a similar field to get a taste of nursing before actually beginning their BScN?

Hope someone will have some insight, thanks kindly for any advice.
Cheers & all the best.

I haven't heard of that school in Toronto, however I don't live in Toronto. We don't have CNA's in Ontario however we do have PSW or Personal Support Workers, who are invaluable in Nursing homes and Assited Living Residences.
Good luck!
