salary and working experience

by liton

1.When I studied in the university outside Canada, the last whole year was clinical rotation in hospital. I want to ask is it can be considered one-year working experience?
2.After graduation, I worked in my home country for 2 years. Will it be admitted by hospital in toronto?
3.Now I am looking for a RN job. What about the salary level I can ask for considering my experience?

Thanks

Work experience is paid employment. Clinical time while in school is just that, part of your education.

If you have documentation of your paid hours of employment (ie: a letter from your hospital's HR department stating the number of employment) most employers will honour it.

As most hospitals here are unionized, you really can't go in and ask for a wage. There are pay scales that are followed based upon hours of experience.

Thank you very much for information. So if I be asked the salary expectation, I just need to reply "according to your regulation"

I can honestly say I've never been asked what my "salary expectations" were. Like I've said, all major health region facilities are unionized.

Unionized nurses are the norm here. It's non-unionized that is the rarity.

You'll find Canada is a very different place from the US.
