Qualification Question

Hi. I am a RN in the United States and wish to move to BC, Canada. Do I have to get my BSN before I move or can I work there and continue my education in Canada? Also, I have a Class A Misdemeanor conviction from 1998. That hasn't affected me here but will that disqualify me in Canada? Thank you in advance for helping answer these questions.

You need to contact the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia for the most accurate information. They may accept your education or they may not. It depends on what you've actually been taught. They'll assess your education and issue a ruling. As for the Class A misdemeanor, all provinces in Canada require a criminal records check and a child abuse registry check, so it will come out. How much weight is given to each different type of misdemeanor isn't something most of us know about. CRNBC could answer that question too.

hi scringer
Have you read through the "Are you ready to apply for CRNBC registration" section of crnbc.ca website? This is the place to start if you are thinking of working as a registered nurse in BC.
