I'll try to help if I can.... I took the test in June 2006 after completing my degree at McMaster, in ontario. The book was helpful, read the introduction very carefully - there is actually a wealth of knowledge for how to take the test. I found that there seemed to be a theme(s) each year.... for example I found there to be alot of suicide/mental health questions as well as alot of therapeutic communication questions, and lots of cardiac that year. So if you find a few common themes and really think about those, I found it helped alot, because then i was prepared to answer in both m/c and sort answer.

I can't reccomend any prep courses as I am not currently living in ontario, nor did I take any (or know anyone who did) but I think it is probably a good idea for you to take one as you might not be as familiar with the system as someone trained in ontario.

Best of luck - it's not as bad as it sounds

I won't be taking mine until Feb 09, but advice I was given was to know your standards inside and out.... FYI CRNE is m/c ONLY until 2010.... how much does that suck!!!!!!!!

I felt that the book was good enough. I actually found that it was good for just getting used to their wording on the questions, and to get an idea of what kinds of things they are looking for in the answers. I read through the book over and over again, answered the multiple choice over and over. That was plenty. I've never heard of a CRNE prep course though, sorry I can't help with that.

you can take a practice test online through CNA... I believe its about $43.00 to take it. They mark it and let you know the areas you need to focus more on. I was thinking of taking that one about a month before the actual test. Hope that helps
