patient compliance?

I've been searching the threads but haven't really come across this topic (which really is starting to pique my interest)...how often do you come across patients 'marching to the beat of their own drum' as it were? Or worse yet, outright refuse to do anything you asked them (and need them) to follow?

I see this every single solitary day of my professional life. Has nothing to do with gender or title of the nurse or physician for that matter.
